UNPOLARIZED was inspired by the political polarization of American politics and the itch of wanting to make politics look a lot less boring! Getting older, I have noticed politics have become a bigger topic in my life, even when trying to avoid it. Realizing its growing importance, I wanted to create my project as a research campaign. To do this, UNPOLARIZED centered its campaign around this question: Is there still a need for the two-party system? For many, politics is a loaded topic, one word away from turning into a fist fight! I found this being the consequence of people not really having an understanding of a perspective different from their own. This campaign will be showcased with the use of posters, an infographic, a book, an interactive voting component, as well as having buttons, stickers, and thank you cards to further enhance the viewer’s experience. The creative aspect has been heavily inspired by modern design culture along with touches of vintage political culture to bridge the gap between the historical and modern aspects of the two-party system. The goal for UNPOLARIZED is to ultimately encourage new conversations and diverse perspectives, all while creating a safe space for discussion, providing educational insights, and sparking curiosity.
