Graves into Gardens

As humans we all have a story, in this story we have experienced or will experience loss at some point. This is a life changing, stop you in your tracks moment that shifts your perspective and life. Death itself is a gateway; however, the process of fixing something that is broken is also a doorway to healing. With loss there is brokenness, and what fills those cracks in us as humans is what I wanted to highlight in my project. My goal is to highlight others journeys of finding peace through grief. Healing looks different for everyone; however, my hopes for this project is to provide a source of peace to others. Serving as a reminder that you are not alone!

All of the content in each of my assets for this project were directly derived from stories collected through a series of interviews. All of the stories were generously and anonymously provided by a variety of students and adults of all ages. The poster series and stickers display various interpretations of healing and uplifting words that serve as a daily reminder of peace. The Seed Packets represent the idea of sowing the seed of healing and tending to a garden daily, as one should tend to their soul in this same manner. The candles stand as a reminder to continue pursuing light on the darkest of days. The journal displays real stories of healing and offer guided prompts to provide a start to ones journey to peace. The Prayer & Memory Tree is a way our guests can physically honor their passed loved ones, yet serves the purpose of a visual representation that you are not alone.
