4NFINITY

For me personally, my main motivation for this project was bringing awareness to the fact that being an idol is much messier than many people expect. It’s a misleading occupation from the outside, and I wanted to be able to educate my viewers on what’s happening and how things can change and be amended into something more positive. This allows for the creation of a “doorway” into the other side, or in this case, a curtain. Becoming an idol is a doorway into a great opportunity, but once you pull back the backstage curtain, all kinds of harsh truths are exposed.

I wanted to be able to create assets that were appealing to look at from the front but had a more intense underbelly on the back. I wanted my materials to reflect the actual state of idol affairs by being double-sided coins of sorts. They may look pleasant at first, but once you look close enough, you start to realize that things aren’t as positive as they may seem. To establish my brand as a more ethical doorway in comparison to the one that already exists, I created 4 mascots for my company’s main idol group with each one representing a different “hot topic”, such as race, sexuality/gender identity, mental health, and body type. These mascots represent the parts of idol culture that aren’t looked at as positively, but in turn, represent what makes my company a more diverse competitor.
