The Hallow Social

Within the conversation of sexual liberation and self-love, The Hallow Social opens up a fresh perspective on the oppression found in conservative communities; specifically towards female and lgbtq+ experiences. For women and lgbtq+, sex and body positivity can be held down by cultural, relational, and generational shame. It is the goal for this project to create an environment that feels accessible to all walks of life, and all types of experiences. Everyone in the world wants to feel loved and accepted.

No matter your race, gender, or religious affiliation, we can collectively agree that loving yourself is liberating. In a post-pandemic world, a wave of deconstructionists has left the church with little resources to lean on. Leaving a religious community can be incredibly isolating, especially if it is all you know. A zine, journaling app,

social media page, and stationary items are available to use throughout your deconstruction journey. The zine “Self Love Club” uses unique typography, illustration, and collage to call out many of the stigmas surrounding purity culture within the church. A special Q&A is also featured throughout the “Self Love Club” which features real answers regarding questions that deal with body dysmorphia, youth group culture, and sexuality. Although deconstruction can feel lonely at

times, it is the Hallow Social's hope to create a community that serves as a place of refuge.
